Geodatabase Design

Taylor Engineering uses best practices ESRI recommends for geodatabase design. This approach consists of three design phases: conceptual design, logical design, and physical design. To develop and capture these three phases, Taylor Engineering uses UML, the accepted data modeling language. This language provides various diagrams, documents, and other artifacts to help end users visualize their ideas. Among the multiple Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools available for database design, we use Microsoft Visio 2003 Professional to capture the three phases of database design.
