To facilitate data management for Martin County’s 21 miles of beach coastline and 114 miles of inland waterways, Taylor Engineering developed a comprehensive coastal geodatabase with ESRI's ArcGIS 8.x software. The database conceptual design and schema supports the Martin County Engineering Department’s GIS and coastal data management needs and creates a single storage framework - a geodatabase - for the Department's coastal information. Taylor Engineering populated the geodatabase with data from the Department, other agencies, and Department contractors. The project also involved the development of tools to facilitate data entry, retrieval, organization, update, and display; and analysis for permits, grants, artificial reef projects, and other coastal projects.
